Lok Sabha Elections in India 2024

Mutual Embeddedness of State and National Politics

Editors: A.K. Verma · K.C. Suri · Vikas Tripathi  |  Publisher: Centre for the Study of Society and Politics (CSSP), Kanpur

About the Book

The verdict of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections cannot be understood merely from New Delhi. Nor can it be explained solely through the politics of individual states. This landmark volume demonstrates how India's electoral democracy is shaped by the continuous interaction between national narratives and state-level political realities. Bringing together contributions from a distinguished group of scholars, researchers, and political analysts from across India, the book offers a rare state-by-state examination of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Covering virtually the entire country, it presents one of the most comprehensive academic assessments of the election ever published.

The volume argues that India's democracy is simultaneously nationally integrated and regionally segmented. The 2024 Lok Sabha election vividly demonstrates this dual reality, making this book an essential resource for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of contemporary Indian politics.
